7/26/2008 BAYANIHAN: Volunteers Needed to Load Book Shipment for Philippines
Dear Friends of the Philippines,
Volunteers are needed to help load boxes of donated books to be shipped to the Philippines on Saturday, July 26, 2008 at 4250 Kendale Road, Columbus OH 43220, just a few minutes from the OSU campus. Loading starts at 9 am. Please come even if just for 2 hours so that the loading can be completed in one day. Volunteers must be able to lift boxes weighing 30-40 pounds when full. Wear old and comfortable clothing. If you can volunteer and/or have questions, please contact the Project Coordinator, OSU Professor of Animal Science Herbert W. Ockerman at (614) 451-7004 or ockerman.2@osu.edu.
Professor Ockerman, http://myprofile.cos.ockerman78, has generously given time and money for over 30 years to send books to 367 colleges and universities around the world, including the Philippines. To date he has facilitated 1525 shipments, some as large as 36,000 books. He donated so many books to a university in Cavite that an addition to the library was constructed to accommodate his donations. Such generosity to the Philippines deserves our support.
